It’s the final week of Clinic Signups for 2026. The Commercials were as funny as ever, and it’s great to see more and more campers asking to be a part of the skits. The counselors were happy to oblige!
The Sky Regatta will be a special part of Sailing, while the Ski Dock will focus just on skiing. Also on Trickey Pond will be Competitive Swimming. Lots of beat-the-record opportunities here. Weightlifting & Conditioning will focus on balance and core. Match Play in Tennis, and Color War Prep for Golf, Soccer, Basketball and Hockey. There will be Football Games plus Hurdles, Long Jump and Throwing. Shep’s Reading Clinic is the perfect time to get summer reading done. Absolutely Everything at the Ropes Course, or maybe Props & Scenery for the upcoming production of Jungle Book. Yellowhorn will feature a Pontoon Boat Party every day.
Speaking of Yellowhorn…The tin foil stuff in recent photos is actually a solar oven. The guys have been making nachos with cheese melted by the sun. Problem is they forgot about them and left the ovens outside overnight. Director Michaela stayed up late to re-build them in time for morning and no one knew the difference.
One more bit of Yellowhorn news. Michaela had leftover eggs, so the boys made Pavlova. Maybe your son will remember enough to make it for your next dinner party.
It’s the Pine Cone Auction! Each Bunk finds pine cones, and that becomes the medium of exchange for an auction of prizes.
But here’s the twist…there are no pine cones this year. They skip a year sometimes, dependent on weather conditions.
So what do we do? Hide colored eggs instead. 985 of them.
The Skylemar golf course was sprinkled with pink, purple, blue and yellow. Teams were made up of an older cabin and a younger cabin. On your mark, get set, go! Five minutes to collect! The guys got super creative with ways to carry the eggs back to their crate, because you could only use what was on your body. Lots of backwards hoodies out there.
Eggs were officially counted by the impartial “eggsperts”, and the total determined how much the team had to bid. Each group had a bidding paddle to raise when the time was right. As each prize was advertised the team had to decide together if they were going to bid, and how much. The Pavilion was louder than ever!
There was an assortment of prizes, advertised by our glamour girl hostess, Suzie. For example, the Snack Like a Champ Gift Bag came with 20 packs of Goldfish crackers and a case of yellow Gatorade. Sade’s Palace Snack Smorgasbord included pretzel rods, ice cream and root beer. There was a giant bag of balls, and the ever popular staff t-shirt assortment.
One group won a 6th Period Experience of making candy sushi rolls with Luci. Another won an After Hours Kitchen Raid with Arleen. Fast Pass Skylemar Edition was a high-ticket item. It lets you go first all day for meals as well as the canteen line at Movie Night.
There was Chilltop Party with Mary Beth. That was bracelet making with snacks and music. Slugger’s Birthday Party was a great one to bid on if you didn’t have a summer birthday in your Bunk. Delish pizza and Goody Bags too. There’s Make Your Own Sundae’s with Barney, VIP Chocolate Factory Period with Holly and Kristen, and Fresh Baked Cookies Warm from the Oven with Cory.
Highest number of eggs went for the Red Cabin Hang Out with Beags and Cory. That’s a Skylemar classic that everyone hopes for.
Worked out perfectly that every bunk ended up with a prize. Everyone’s happy, except maybe for the counselors of the bunks who won a bag of giant balls. Sorry about that, Holden, Shane, Cooper and Mack…
