At Skylemar

It's Cool2Care & Our Secret Sauce

At Camp Skylemar it is “It’s Cool2Care.”

At Skylemar, it’s cool to care about yourself, others and the world around you. We call it “Cool2Care” (or C2C for short), and it’s the mindset that guides everything we do.

Cool2Care means striving to be your best, leading with positivity, making thoughtful decisions and choosing to do the right thing even when no one is watching.

On the field or court, it’s cool to give it your all and compete to win. Just as important is how you treat others – lifting up teammates, respecting opponents and supporting everyone, whether you’re in the game or cheering from the sidelines.

You can feel the Cool2Care spirit in the way we care for our facilities, prepare every meal and show up for one another. It’s in the laughter, the encouragement, the high fives and in the willingness to apologize and grow when we fall short.

Cool2Care has a whole lot to do with respect and appreciation for each person in the Skylemar community, as well as those at home. Most importantly, it’s a message based on kindness, which is the foundation of Camp Skylemar.

Skylemar’s Secret Sauce

What makes Skylemar “the greatest place in the world,” as the kids often say?

It’s the people, of course. It begins with exceptional parents who value a community built on positive role models, genuine connection and strong character. From there, it grows into something even more powerful – rooted in our Cool2Care values, fueled by every sport and game imaginable and supported by beautiful, well-maintained surroundings.

Every detail at Skylemar is designed with intention. Enrollment is carefully balanced between what makes competitive play fun, while keeping our community personal and “knowable.” Here, everyone is seen, known and cared for.

In fact, care is at the heart of everything we do. With a 1-to-2 staff-to-camper ratio, each boy is supported not just as part of a group, but as an individual. Whether in his Bunk of 5-8 boys, his Division of 25-35, or his Band of Brothers of 15, he always has a place where he belongs. Our daily schedule blends structure with choice, and is mapped carefully each morning, so that we know where each camper is and have an eye on how he’s doing.

What’s a Band of Brothers? It’s one of the ways we instill the value of care between old and young, and is an instrumental part of our tight community. Each Band of Brothers is named for an animal native to Maine and brings together boys from every Division. With two campers from each age group, these small communities share special activities and occasional meals which bridges age gaps and builds strong bonds.

At Skylemar, friendships of all ages last a lifetime.
