The Other Side
Oh, to live at Sky II. It’s a really big deal at Skylemar, and something that all kids aspire to. It makes you pretty darn important, and one of the coolest guys on camp.
The address is exclusive, and only those who live at Sky II are supposed to be in the cabins. That is, unless you have a special invitation. One such invite went to Bunk 3, after they took showers and cleaned their own cabin. The little guys were especially enamored with the large wooden bunk beds and sliding glass windows, plus all the cool sports stuff that really cool guys have.
There are six cabins on the Sky II Bunkline, for ages 14 & 15 that make up the Seniors and Stars Division. Inside live our Skylemar role models, who those on the other side hope to be like one day. It’s a big responsibility to undertake, and they do it with pride.
The neighborhood is “prime”, with close access to the Gym, Lodge and Tennis Courts. Each little green building has its own covered porch, with a large, shared yard for casual lacrosse and soccer. It’s a bit of a distance to get to meals, but no one complains. The “freedom” is worth it, they say.
With added responsibility comes privileges as well. Bedtime is later, and waking up is more of a last-minute thing. Best of all, they have Happy Hour.
Happy Hour is 6th Period, when Sky II has two choices: Waterskiing & Swimming, or supervised “hanging out”. Although the Sky II guys love to play sports, nothing compares to hanging out with good friends.
While rainy days at Sky I means creative programming outside of the Bunk, for those over at Sky II it’s the perfect time to catch up on rest. Code word “Bunk Games For Sky II” over the PA means exactly that.
Next week is Color War, and that has strong meaning for those at Sky II. It’s their time to lead Camp Skylemar, and they’ll do so with strength and kindness.
These once-upon-a-time cute little guys are now almost adults. We’ve watched them grow into outstanding young men, and we’re grateful they’re here.
