70th Anniversary Weekend
It’s 2018, so you know what that means. Time to jump in Trickey Pond, smack a ball over the Freddie Pierce fence (or at least try) and pull that Tug O’ War rope with all your might. It’s time to get together with the greatest guys in the whole wide world and have a blast!
The party kicks off Friday evening at 7pm, with a gathering of old and new friends at the Rec Hall Reception, featuring hors d’oeuvres, beer and wine. After a good night’s rest on a “comfy” camp bed, waken to Reveille, “The Morning Show”, Flag Raising and a delicious hot breakfast. Then it’s on to a full schedule of activities on land and water.
At the lake you can slide “The Beast”, climb the “Ice Berg”, or jump off the classic Pontoon. Take out a sailboat, stand-up paddle board, kayak or canoe. Give skiing, wake surfing or tubing a try. Swim some laps or simply relax on the docks.
On land, there’s basketball, street hockey, soccer, softball, tennis and golf as you remember. Plus there’s the climbing wall, zipline and “Giant Swing” for a challenge. Check out the archery course, official whiffle ball field, and the amazing “Sky Slide”. Of course there’ll be ping pong and bocce, plus Herb’s Garden to enjoy.
Not to be missed is Retrospect with a tribute to Lee and Herb, Banquet Night, Waterfront Ceremony, memorabilia and lots of camaraderie. Sunday will include Lazy Man’s Brunch and casual activities to accommodate individual departures. Photos, banquet books and other keepsakes will be on display in The Lodge all weekend.
Counselors will be on hand to referee, lifeguard and drive shuttles to town. Guests are welcome to stay in Skylemar cabins (bunkmates by request) or arrange their own accommodations. Children and wives are welcome, but ladies may be more comfortable with hotel amenities.
The fee for the weekend is $325 per person, which includes plenty to eat and drink, bedding, souvenir t-shirt, the chance to win prizes, and ice packs for those who play too hard. There’s no charge for children under 15.
