We Have Experience

Skylemar operated safely and successfully during the pandemic of 2020. Here’s how…

It was the words of alum and current parent Dr. Jeff Vergales which inspired us to go forward while other camps chose to close. He said, “I can think of no place better or safer for a boy to be than Camp Skylemar.

Thanks to Dr. Vergales and an extraordinary staff, we focused on mitigating risk, controlling spread and communicating regularly. Protocol included staying-put on our 200-acre facility, playing and dining in the beautiful outdoors just about all the time, co-horting by age group, and we used plenty of hand sanitizer and cleaning supplies. Although ultimately not necessary, a 9,000-square foot building was set aside for quarantine just in case. Covid Testing added another layer of protection.

Skylemar activities and traditions were as exciting as always. Together we played, laughed, ran, splashed, cheered and had a summer packed with fun!

Experience builds strength, and Skylemar will be stronger than ever in 2021! We’ll continue to collect current data and follow medical/CDC guidelines, and pledge to do everything in our power to keep all in our care healthy and safe.
