Cool Counselors
Only The Best At Camp Skylemar
When it comes to counselors, Skylemar has the best. Some used to be campers, many have been on staff before and others are new. Each has a specialty in at least one area and most play on college teams from all over the United States. Most importantly, they come to Skylemar because they want to be the teacher, coach and friend that you’ll remember the rest of your life.
If you’re new to a sport, they’ll patiently teach the basics. If you already know the game, you’ll have lots of good competition and personal coaching. Through ups and downs, Skylemar counselors are there by your side. They’re the best guys in the world. And after all, staff matters most.
Enormous attention is given to the selection, training and supervision of counselors. Skylemar’s counselor-to-camper ratio of 1:2 is unsurpassed. The majority of staff members have been members of the Skylemar family for many years. Those considered for new positions must have demonstrated expertise in specific activities. Most importantly, they must prove that they are considered to be a role model for children.
Counselors undergo rigorous training before the season, as well as throughout the summer. Arleen and Shep, along with the experienced Senior Staff, work directly with counselors as well as the campers under their care. Skylemar directors “keep their finger on the pulse” of camp and know each child personally.
