Here's a routinely asked question. Has Skylemar changed over the past 70 years? Sure, there are more buildings, courts and fields. The waterfront’s filled with inflatable toys and motor boats. The number of cabins has more than doubled.
Forever the same are the Skylemar traditions; the emphasis on sports with sportsmanship; a culture based on kindness.
Just ask our loyal alumni who visited today. Several said something like, “Camp looks just like I remember, only better”. That’s exactly what we’re after.
Skylemar alum are the greatest guys in the world. They’re connected by an unbreakable “skylebond”, whether they’re long-time friends or have recently met.
They are the keepers of tradition and our forever cheerleaders. We’re grateful that so many have entrusted their son to our care. This year our roster swells with 43 children of those who attended or worked at Skylemar.
Today they played alongside the campers of 2018, who secretly “took it easy on them”. They jumped into Trickey Pond, and some thought about trying to hit a softball over the Fred Pierce fence. They'll be plenty of chances for that at the 70th Anniversary Weekend in August.
Thank you, alum, for all that you do to keep Skylemar strong for the next 70 years. We are truly grateful for your support, friendship and love.
Tomorrow we welcome more of the greatest people in the world – Skylemar moms, dads, sisters, brothers and grandparents. The boys are super excited and can’t wait to show off.
See you in the morning!
