We woke to loud thunderstorms, and headed to breakfast in full rain gear. Never thought the weather would change, so the schedule was juggled a bit. Inspection, then right into IC Day team practice, and before long the weather turned humid and sunny. Nevertheless, a number of guys went ice skating in the afternoon, while others had league games.
Best part about ice skating is that we get the whole rink to ourselves. That means there’s lots of wide open ice, and all abilities are welcome. Some have never skated much before, so this is the perfect time to learn. Others are hockey players, and have plenty of space to sharpen their skills.
It was a well-deserved day off for the entire kitchen crew. They put in a tremendous amount of time into the Visiting Day Buffet, on top of their regular duties of feeding 350, three times a day. The Senior Staff took over with serving, dish washing and clean up. Spending just one day in their shoes really makes you realize how hard these guys work, which everyone should have the chance to experience that.
Brother-Sister Day was actually the perfect two hour visit. Just enough time for Brothers and Sisters to spend together, but not too much time to be tired of each other. Lots of warm hugs and smiles, as each sibling beamed with pride.
It’s Cabin Party Time! Lots of fun all over camp. Bunk #4 took over the Staff Lounge for pizza and a movie. 7 and 13 had a Photo & Video Party, and made their own movie. It was Cupcake Making & Games for Bunk 1, and a Tie Dye Makeover for Bunk 3. There was a Barbecue at the Skydeck, A Drive In Movie Under The Big Top and The Bunkster Lodge Party. Bunk 9 was lucky enough to go to the Red Snow Cabin for a special feast. Most exciting was the Secret Party at Bunk 71. The location is kept top secret, and is accessible only by boat.
